Shell problem, excluding surfaces

I'm using Creo Parametric Student Version 2.0

Suppose that you have two tubes with different thickness.

Now, you are going to join them using a weld machine. The desire result will be something like this.

Untitled.jpg

But! this picture it's wrong! Because to get this result using the shell feature I exclude it the surface of the first tube, and what happen is that the first tube (the large one) becomes solid, in other words, it becomes a shaft.

Manipulating the shell options, I get this other result, that is totally bad, because a hole appears in the second tube (the short one)

Note:

The Figure 1 is incorrect too, the hole in the second tube (the short one) doesn't show, but it's there. In other words, Figure 1 and Figure 3 are the same thing, I just change the view.

Important: I know that using an Extrude feature or a Sweep feature with the thickness option enabled, I can get a similar result, but for manipulating purpose, I don't want to do it in that way. I just want to use ONE shell feature. Is this possible?
