How to remove trialing zero in a bilateral tolerance of a dimension

$

Hi,

I have an issue that a dimension (for example : 25.4) is controlled with biateral tolerance of +0.03/-0.1.

When i provide it like that. a trialing zero added to the negative tolerance 0.1 and it become 0.10. But I don't want it and I need it to be 25.4 +0.03/-0.1.

Let me know if any one knows how to make it

Model with simple frustrum - volume calculation wrong

$

I make a lot of models that involve pyramidal frustrums (transition of a rectangular section to another rectangular section, linearly). Rather than use the measured value calculated by Creo, I thought I'd have a go at calculating the volume directly from the dimensions.

When I check my calculations, the volume calculated directly from the dimensions differs from the Creo analysis result.

I minimized the accuracy value, but still get the exact same result.

Here are my simple values

Base rectangle: 5 X 3 -> Base area: 15

Top rectangle: 4 X 2 -> Top area: 8

Height: 1

Frustrum of a pyramid volume is

Volume = ( Area Base + Area Top + SQRT ( Area Base * Area Top ) ) * Height / 3 = 11.3182

Creo, on the other hand, gives a volume of 11.3333.

Anyone have any insights into this?

This is simple shape, and kind of scares me about what might be happening with more complicated geometry.

Creo equivalent of SolidWorks configurations in parts?

Hi there,

I've been with a new company using Creo 2.0 for the last three months and we would really benefit from being able to create parts with what I know as "configurations": I'm not sure what the equivalent term in Creo would be, I'm afraid.

The first parts I am trying to create are bent plates. There are 8 different versions, each sharing all bar two dimensions: an angle and the overall length which is driven by the angle. I've attached a 2d draft to demonstrate.

My target is a single part with 8 "configurations", with one drawing displaying this part in a default "configuration" and a table that will define parameters 'A' and 'L'.

I hope that this is feasible in Creo as it would save a lot of work!

Many thanks in advance.

Requirement:

This particular fuel injector pump use in heavy vehicles

Intention: whenever the driver accelearting the pedal more than 1500 rpm the fuel should be cut off

main shaft mounted with housing using pin connection

fuel cut off shaft assembled with slider mechanism

governor will connect with main shaft using constriants.

fuel cut off shaft connected with spring (mdo)

the other end of spring connected with rigid body of another component.

governor has v type of part which will statrt to work when rpm goes beyond 1500  & v type part pull the fuel cut off shaft and it will close the fuel passage hole . the same time the spring will get compressed

Please help me out to complete the mechanism to acheive the above mentioned requirement.

How to design at BTE hearing aid

Hi everyone

I need to be able to make a CAD model of a Behind the ear hearing aid, but I am not sure how to tackle it.

I have tried with some surface desing in the "Style" feature but has been struggling a bit. My other guess would be to make a skeleton model and then create a sweeped housing, but cannot make it look good.

First of all I would just like your input and ideas about how to approach? Or if you have other tips?

All replies are appreciated .

Hi All

My first post!

Attached picture shows my problem. I am welding two semi-circular plates to a tube.

I first weld the two plates together then weld the plates to the tube but the weld is split across the plate weld. I've tried everyhting I can to correct this without success.

Question on setup for individual users (config.pro)

$

As long as I've used Pro/E (17+ years), there was generally a company "config.pro" (and perhaps other files) and a separate user-customizable "config.pro" (and perhaps other files).  The loadpoints were specified in a path statement, usually in a batch file.  This allowed the company to set certain standards, yet allowed users to customize mapkeys and other settings that did not compromise the company standard settings.

Are people still doing this?

This is the way I've set up the systems here, and all the ex-Solidworks users are trying to tell me it's the "wrong way", and that it should all be networked.  I'm trying to explain to them that having a local (C:) folder and a "config.pro" file that is specific to each user allows them to individually customize their configuration and performance, and it's falling on completely deaf ears.  And that putting that on the network in a single file is pointless.  Might as well then roll EVERYTHING into a company "config.pro" file and call it a day, but that means they' cannot customize anything.  Or, if they want to customize things, then we need to clutter up our network drive with individual folders, and then have individual path statements in the "config.pro" to get to things like their syscol.scl, tree.cfg, and .dtl files.  If it's in a local directory, say:  "C:\FRANK\(C) PROE\(C) CONFIGS" then I need to only push this out once, and the paths always work regardless of them changing mapkeys or settings.

I think it's far easier to have the users have control their own files at the local level, than trying to do it all at the network level.

Thoughts?

ANSYS WORKBENCH 15.0 & CREO 2.0 CAD INTERFACE

Hello,

I am using  CREO 2.0 M090 on windows7 64bits, and I just installed ANSYS 15. maybe I should mention that I also have Wildfire 4.0 installed on the same computer. The problem is that the CAD interface between ANSYS Workbench and CREO does not work. I've been following all the steps described on Ansys customer portal, and still no success. before contacting Ansys support, I would like to know if others CREO 2.0 are encountering the same problem, or if I'm simply doing something wrong. I've been trying a lot of stuffs to make it work, so rather than a "It should work if you do..." I wish I could have a " I did.......and It's working Fine for me" kind of answer.....still, all advices are welcome....

Will student version work for 3D printing

$

I was interested in using the student version to design a gift for someone and have it 3D printed. I am just concerned that I will put hours into designing the gift and then find that using a student version will prevent me from saving the file in a way that a 3D printer can understand, or that a "Student version" notice would be saved as part of the drawing and get printed aswell.

If anyone has used the student version for something like this or if you know about the limitations of the student version could you please share what you know.

Modifying config.pro for Absolute Accuracy

$

I'd like to modify my config.pro file so that I don't have to go through File>Prepare>Model Properties and change the Accuracy from Relative to Absolute. I've already modified the config.pro file for enabling Absolute Accuracy (enable_absolute_accuracy = yes) and for the default value (default_abs_accuracy = 1e-6), but I can't find a parameter for changing the default from Relative to Absolute. Is there a parameter for this, or am I stuck going through the manual repetition each time I create a new part?

Component wire frame in cross section?

Hello,

I have a component in a large assembly that displays fine (no hidden lines, tangent lines dimmed) normally, but when I show a cross section (that doesn't intersect the component at all) the component displays as wireframe and I can't change it?? Any ideas or thoughts?

I've tried excluding this component from the cross section (even though it's untouched) to no avail.

Learning Creo

Hi,

I have a student version of Creo and am having significant difficulty learning the program. The PTC learning exchange appears to have been arranged completely at random, making progression through a tutorial style system incredibly difficult. As far as I can find, there is no alternative tutorial system provided by PTC or affiliates that guides a new user through the program and how to operate it.

As a comparison, the Autodesk Inventor "learning resource" seems well structured and logical in it's approach, at least on initial review.

Is there a progressive tutorial system available for Creo 2.0 that I have missed, which is able to teach me how to use the program and it's features?

As background, I have used both 2d and 3d CAD packages previously, mostly Rhino and Autocad, neither of which is a parametric modeler.

Cheers,

Use of &pos_loc: to locate balloons on a drawing

We are in desperate need of a quick way to locate balloons on a drawing in WF4.  I have read http://www.ptc.com/cs/cs_24/howto/fom3447/fom3447.htm which shows how to locate views by zone.  I would like to do the same things for every balloon on the drawing, preferably in a table sorted by index number.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
